Wikis

What is a Wiki?
A wiki is a website that allows vistors to edit, add and remove content. Some wikis restrict this to members of the wiki. The very nature of wikis means that you should not always believe everything you read on a wiki.
Wiki is the Hawaiian word for fast - wiki is a fast webpage

The most famous wiki is wikipedia. Some of the pages on wikipedia are protected so that they can only be edited by administrators of the site. Many biographies are protected or pages that may be subjected to vandalism.

Uses of wikis
Wikis can be used for all the same sort of things that you use blogs for . In the teaching and learning areas wikis have enabled students who may not have facilities close at hand to continue their eductaion through the internet. Projects like the flatclassroom have been established that have schools from opersite sides of the world working together.
